Privacy policy

The site runs its own analytics on its own server. Here is exactly what that records, what it stores on your device, and what it never touches.

In brief

  • There are no accounts, no sign-ups and no advertising on the site.

What the analytics records

A small script served from this domain, /t.js, sends usage events to this site's own server. For each visit it can record the page address and title, the referring page and any campaign tags in the link you arrived by, your device type, screen and window width, browser language and user agent, and an approximate country supplied by the network in front of the server. It also records which links and buttons are clicked, how far down a page you scroll, and roughly how long the page is actively in view.

Your IP address is not stored as such. The server keeps a one-way hash of it, combined with a private value, so repeat visits can be told apart from new ones without the address itself being kept. The data is used to see which pages are read and which are not, and it is kept for a little over a year and then deleted.

The publisher's traffic dashboard

A second script, loaded from maxboard.finx.live, sends a similar set of usage events to the dashboard the publisher uses to follow traffic across its own sites. It records the page address and title, the referring page, campaign tags in the link you arrived by, your window width and device type, the text and address of links and buttons you click, how far you scroll, how long the page is actively in view, and when a form on the page is shown or started. It records that a form was used, never what was typed into it. The dashboard is run by the publisher and is not an advertising network.

The price strip

The strip of stock prices under the header is loaded from finpubmax.com, the publisher's quote service, which your browser asks for fresh prices about once a minute while a page is open. Those requests carry the page's address and your IP address, as any web request does. The strip sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. Prices shown there are for information only and are not a recommendation, as the risk disclaimer explains.

What is stored on your device

To count returning visitors and sessions, the script stores a random visitor identifier and a session identifier in your browser, in local storage and in a first-party cookie, all named with the prefix tfst_. The visitor identifier lasts up to two years unless you clear it. It is a random string: it contains nothing about you and it is not shared with any other site. The dashboard script keeps its own random visitor identifier, named mb_v, in local storage and a cookie for up to about thirteen months, plus a session identifier and your arrival campaign tags in session storage, which clears when you close the tab. The theme switch in the header stores your light or dark choice in local storage.

Neither script runs in automated browsers. To opt out, clear this site's storage and block /t.js and maxboard.finx.live in your browser or with a content blocker; the site works fully without them.

Server logs and delivery

The hosting server keeps standard access logs, which include IP addresses, for security and fault finding. Pages are delivered through a content delivery network that processes requests to serve the site and protect it from attacks.

Writing to [email protected] means we receive your address and whatever you send. It is used to reply to you. It is not added to any list.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what data is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to its use. Because the analytics holds a random identifier and a hashed address, a request is easiest to act on if you include the tfst_vid value from your browser storage. The site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them. If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it. The terms of use cover the rest of the rules for using the site.
